Road Safety Awareness Week by Image Care Welfare Society (ICWS)

Location: Govt Boys Senior Secondary School, Mahipalpur, New Delhi & Vasant Vihar Triangular Red Light

Event Overview:

Image Care Welfare Society (ICWS) organized a dynamic Road Safety Awareness Week event on January 12th, 2024, aimed at fostering a culture of safety on the roads. The event was held at the prestigious Govt Boys Senior Secondary School in Mahipalpur, New Delhi, and also extended to the bustling Vasant Vihar Triangular Red Light area.

Objectives:

  1. No Mobile While Driving: Educating individuals about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving, emphasizing the importance of undivided attention on the road.
  2. Wear Helmet: Promoting the use of helmets for two-wheeler riders to reduce head injuries and fatalities in case of accidents.
  3. Follow Traffic Rules (Stop, Wait, and Go): Advocating for strict adherence to traffic rules, including obeying traffic signals and signs, to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent accidents.
  4. Look Both Ways Before Crossing: Emphasizing the significance of pedestrian safety by encouraging individuals to look both ways before crossing the road, especially at intersections.
  5. Fasten Seat Belts While Driving: Highlighting the importance of wearing seat belts for drivers and passengers in vehicles to minimize the risk of injury during collisions.
  6. When to Cross Zebra Crossing: Educating pedestrians on the proper use of zebra crossings and the importance of waiting for the signal to cross safely.

Event Highlights:

  • Interactive Sessions: Engaging presentations and discussions were conducted at Govt Boys Senior Secondary School, Mahipalpur, where students were educated about road safety practices.
  • Community Outreach: ICWS extended its outreach efforts to the Vasant Vihar Triangular Red Light area, where volunteers interacted with commuters and pedestrians to raise awareness about road safety measures.
  • Collaboration with Local Authorities: The event witnessed active participation from local traffic policemen who provided valuable insights and guidance during the sessions, enhancing the impact of the awareness campaign.
  • Distribution of Pamphlets: ICWS distributed informative pamphlets containing essential road safety tips and guidelines to commuters and pedestrians, empowering them with knowledge to make safer choices on the road.

We also extend our thanks to Mr. Hari Ram from Delhi Traffic Police, along with supporting members Mr. Brahamdeo, Mr. Sandeep, Mr. Sudhir, Mr. Suraj, and Ms. Munmun Ghosh, whose collaboration was instrumental in the success of the Road Safety Awareness Week.

Along with his teams, he has played a major role in designing and supporting large scale partnerships with state governments in India, for improving children’s learning outcomes.
